My 40-Hour Fast Experience

I am taking my battle against Insulin Resistance seriously. To do this, I have embraced 'fasting-for-health' and I am feeling great. A few weeks ago I was fasting, and my 30 hour fast turned into a 40 hour fast because I was feeling so good at 30 hours.

My Experience

To give you a little backstory.... I have been fasting for a few months now. The first time I fasted, it was hard, and I got hungry. I stuck with it because I was told that if I fasted 4 times, then my body would 'learn' to go into Ketosis, and it would be less difficult. That advice was spot on. That was exactly my experience. Now I fast 24 hours at least once a week, and once or twice a month I will extend that 24 hours to 30 or even 40. I am excited to try 72 hours, but I want to do a little more research before I give that a try.

I have been also eating WAY LESS SUGAR, and WAY LESS CARBS, so especially before my fast I am likely already in Ketosis, so here is my experience:
- I don't get hungry - crazy but true!
- I actually feel more alert (like more smart) - again crazy but true
- I have full energy. I have been riding a Peleton for 6 weeks now, and into a 40-hour fast I was still able to do my BEST RIDE EVER. Yes, full energy. - I am almost guaranteed to have lost some weight during this period with no health risk at all. - I do take a Bloom serving once or twice on the no-food day, so that is a very slight modification which does very little to my fasting results in my understanding.

Fasting For Weight Loss

I want to lose my belly fat! I re-read some of the Health Books that I read last year and realized that one of the most important aspect of having insulin-resistance is that our body tries to maintain it's SET WEIGHT. The way to push past this and lose weight is to FAST. That will not only lose pounds because of the magic of ketosis, but it will also Reset my body's Set Weight, so that when I lose the weight, my body will reset and try to keep me at that new lower Set Weight.

I worked back from my November and December Holidays highs, and I am motivated to push down to 160 to get rid of my bell fat (fat stomach), and then to start building muscle.


Fasting For Insulin Resistance

The more important reason for Fasting is to lower your insulin resistance, and even to eliminate it entirely. When done properly, you will PREVEN Type 2 Diabetes, and LOWER your Risk of Heart Disease, Cancer, and Dimentia, and some other possible diseases.
